But I already threw that out

OK, as I was having a conversation with my wife the other day about zip drives and how they used to be cool with over 100MB of storage, which was good for photoshop and illustrator files, but today it just too expensive when compared with cd-rw or dvd-rw. So Iomega has relased a 750MB version of their zip drive. But the cartridges are $15, and the drive is $189, compared with a Pioneer DVD-RW for $245 and the media under a buck for 4.7GB :) I guess there maybe 3rd world countries that may need it? dunno.

Whew, almost a job

So I have been writing articles for Techrepublic for the past week and my brain feels drained. Hey it pays some bills, but not till the end of September tho :( I also got my security clearence from Microsoft to download the new .NET server, it has a 360 day trial on it so I should get around to evaluating it here soon. I did successfully make an NT domain with my linux box running SAMBA, it is a wonderful thing. However Kim''s printer is still showing an access denied message, but I can print to it. I hate redmond. Also found a cool math numbers site but it is currently slammed as they only get so many hits allowed per day - I might try to mirror it tomorrow. I am also running the Mandrake 9 beta 2 on one of my demo boxen, very hip. It even includes Cyrus SASL, but not the IMAP server, bastards. Yeah, I know Kim and I don''t really need a databased, LDAP connected email server system that can do 100 transactions a seconds, but I can if I want too :) I also found a coo

Hmmm, dirt

So I have seen computers that have been a bit dusty on the inside but this one takes the cake . If you have seen a better example please post it below...

Cool Weather & Stuff

So the weather has finally cooled down from the upper 190''s (not typo) to a mere 80 degree''s faren. I opened the windows and let the A/C take a break, it has been running since March :) so it really did need a break. I have been quite busy today, got the nephew''s computer put together, a blazing 200Mhz with 113MB of memory with a 2GB HD. Wow will they be blown away or at least it gets it out of my closet. I also installed a new photo gallery system for the site. Kim has been wanting one for a while so there it is, I also posted my birthday pics. Email me for the password tho...

Wow, I need more free time

If you have yet to see RustBoy go there now. I like to do 3D animation, but my stuff looks like crap compared to this. And now the kicker. He is using Photoshop, Infini-D and other low end renders. Wow.

DSL back alive, goose guarding motor

OK the DSL came back around 5:00 (7 hour outtage) DirecTV had to request BellSouth do something, and the guy on the phone was like, you know how the phone company people are. Yeah I do, it would be good to be one of them :) on a side note everyone needs a guardian goose

DSL back alive, goose guarding motor

Dead DSL

OK, right now you can''t read this, the DSL has been down for about an hour, they say they are working on it, and should have it back up soon. Hopefully. When I had BellSouth DSL the thing was dead all the time, but later found out it was bad outside wiring. When I swithced to Telocity, now DirectTV DSL, they had Bell replace all the wires outside my house and I went from 768 kbps on bell to 1.44 with Telocity. After the wire problems, I have only had one other instance of issue with the service, except for today. grrrr.

Birthday Happiness

Well, my 30th birthday has come and went, and thanks to my wife I was quite happy all weekend. We went to visit my parents, my brother and my grandparents in a whirlwind tour of about 300 miles altogether on Friday. It was nice too see them again. Not to mention the chicken and biscuits that mom cooked up. Yum. Then on Saturday the group of friends, 18 of us, went to the Martini Italian Bistro and had some ok Italian food. Service wasn''t that great, but it was a good time out. Then we headed back to the house to meet up with everyone else to enjoy cake with pudding as frosting :) , frozen custard :) , and blackberry cider :) Thanks to everyone that came. I think everyone had a good time. We only had four bottle left of the cider, not to mention the entire recycle bin full of beer bottles that was brought independently. Kim had gotten me some great gifts, a model rocket set, Mario 64, Lilo and Stitch collectables, and Pebbles got me a mystery machine model. The rocket set kicks
